The Process
It is always important to “begin with the end in mind.” While this introductory course covers the core foundation of this program, it is important to understand what the entire process entails.
Steps in the Team Purpose to Performance Journey
The journey is divided out into four major parts. These parts are interrelated. They will integrate new insights or other changes to align on the Team Purpose to Performance strategy. The following is an overview of the parts:
- Purpose: Core Foundation for the Work, Create Team Alignment
- Paradoxes & Problem Statements: Uncover and Resolve Conflict
- Create the Game Plan: Synthesize and Plan Execution
- Follow Through: Create the Structure to Support the Game Plan
Purpose
Most organizations like to think of purpose as another word for vision or mission. Purpose is a healthy pride that is born through meaningful contribution and clarity of direction. Purpose statements are much more than mottos. They are used to initiate, evaluate and refine business strategies and activities.
Paradox
In the Team Purpose to Performance Process, the paradox process adds one critical element – emotion. When we engage in exploring a range of emotions related to outcomes, we access critical subtleties that otherwise are overlooked, ignored, or that blindside us later on.
Results
When it comes to success, there is no one right way. Conditions change, new insights are presented, and possible pathways always multiply along the road to success. Getting clarity and alignment early on where you want to go, before taking the steps to get there, helps enable better decision-making and a faster approach when the road veers off course.
Game Plan
This module focuses on finalizing our draft game plan with key milestones that will enable 30-60-90-day sprints as well as key quarterly milestones toward our purpose. As well, we’ll be integrating a synthesized approach to prioritization into the game plan that will reduce the risk of redundancy and working over one another.
